Vases designed by nature
We present a collection of sculptural pieces made by the Basque designer Martín Azúa together with the ceramist Marc Vidal. The pieces are entitled Vase With Stone and represent a tribute to nature that, in addition to its earth tones, combine perfectly with the naturalness and sobriety of the two Harris collections of Les Créations de la Maison.
They are clay vases deformed by the weight of a stone. His designs are based on clean lines and soft shapes where a cholera stone from the Costa Brava (Catalonia) is placed. According to Martín Azúa, “Stones are unique objects that in some way remind us of a landscape.”
The vessels interact with the stone in its plastic phase to create a unique vase, affirming the ability of a natural element to establish a dialogue with a traditional craftsmanship as ceramics. Each of the vases is signed and numbered and comes with the stone that created it. In addition, they are made of a very porous ceramic material that allows the water to filter; therefore they are not designed to hold flowers. But they are conceived as beautiful objects in themselves.
