ByBorre Lab defines itself as “a design studio focused on developing fabrics of the future”. In words of his founder Borre Akkerjsdijk, “textile will become the next platform to interact with the digital world, building on technologies in virtual reality and mobile computing.” His objective is “removing another layer between humans and computers, which creates a new interface that is invisible, tactile and intuitive. The innovation lies in the yarns and knitting patterns as well as the embedded sensors.”
Some of ByBorre most relevan projects are a blanket that interacts with touch with vibrations, a jacket which detects the pollution in the air and releases water and oxygen molecules to clean it, or a garment in which we can upload music. Amazing! Here are some photographs of his studio in Amsterdam.
